Thank you!!

So I woke up this morning and checked my email and to my surprise Miss A's Kindergarten had given me not one, but two awards!! :)

I am very excited and honored to receive these awards!! They are my first :) I am going to follow in Miss A's Kindergarten's footsteps and rather than give this award to 30 different blogs, I am going to give 15 blogs BOTH awards!! :) So here's the deal. I'll follow the rules of the awards, but I don't want to overwhelm you with a crazy amount of award winners. Here are the rules for each award.

One Lovely Blog Award:

1. Follow the person that gave you the award
2. Link back to the person that gave you the award
3. Pass the award on to 15 new bloggers

The Versatile Blogger Award:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you.
2. Include a link to their site.

3. Include the award image in your post.

4. Give 7 random facts about yourself.
5. Nominate 15 other bloggers for the award.

6. When nominating, include a link to their site.
7. Let other bloggers know they've been nominated.

So here goes! 7 Random fact about me:

1. I was born asleep. Literally asleep. (I think this is the reason I enjoy napping so much)
2. I ran on the track and field team and the cross country team for Coastal Carolina University. One of my former teamates and friends, Amber Campbell just placed 1st in the US Olymic Trials in the Hammer Throw and is going to the Olympics!! :)
3. I am recently engaged to a wonderful man who is a professional songwriter in Nashville and is currently on tour with Brad Paisley MCing. ( I get to go the the concert in Philly this weekend to see him because I am home in PA for a few weeks) We are getting married on July 6, 2013 :)
4. I have a cat named Serenity and a turtle named T.W. (which stands for Train Wreck- we found him on the train tracks right beside our condo and we decided he would become a trainwreck if we didn't save him)- I just recently gave him to my dad who has a wonderful pond in his backyard so that he could have a better life than in our tank.
5. I have 2 beautiful nieces who I am super proud of!! They are my favorite girls in the world! Since I live in Nashville and they live in Pennsylvania, I unfortunately do not get to see them as much as I would like but I am very thankful that I get to spend some time in the summer with them!
6. I am proud to say that I helped create the very 1st Music City Special Olympics Choir this past December!! We are called MC Squared and this is one of the best things I have every been a part of!
7. And finally, I own a Prius and and very thankful that I do :)

There you have it!! Thank you to:

Dollar Store Finds!

Take a look at what I found yesterday at the dollar store! I am especially excited about the star necklace clapper! (I bought 2 just in case something happens to the first one :)  I am thinking I will use the pencil flags as an incentive during writing time for those students who are doing their neatest work (they will put in on their pencil during writing and then return it so I can reuse them) The number line border is going to be great to use for math games like the number squeeze where students have to try and guess what the secret number is. Everything else is pretty exciting as well! The green bucket was not a dollar store find, but another great deal at the Christmas Tree Store. I also got a red and blue one. I am going to use these to hold supplies for the writing center and art center. (They are actually 6 pack bottle holders) Have you had any luck at the dollar store lately?

Hollywood/Star Themed Learning Objectives Posters

Hi!! If you are like me, you are looking for a fun way to post your learning objectives next year!! This past year I just laminated some paper and used an expo marker to write on them. I found that posting my objectives was really helpful in reminding me to state the objective for each subject! It also gave me something to refer back to throughout each lesson. Well this year, I want to fancy things up a bit and since we are Ms. Mentzer's Kindergarten Stars I created this Hollywood/Star themed objective poster set! You can click here to get your copy from my Teachers Pay Teachers Store! I am planning on purchasing some photo frames from the dollar store to put these in. You can of course just print them out, back them on paper and laminate them as well!! Do you post your objectives somewhere in the room or are you planning on trying that this year??
